Meet the Team

We are an international, bilingual, women-run business supporting important causes for social development around the world.

  • Optimizer Extraordinaire

Juliana was born in Guatemala City but was raised in small town Chimaltenango, and now lives in Antigua. She worked as an early childhood educator at a bilingual school where, thanks to the interaction with native English speaking teachers, she was able to acquire a proficient level of English.

After her move to Antigua, she began exploring new careers and learning new skills. While working at a Production House, she had the opportunity to learn Ethical Production Management. During this time she also started learning Social Media Management and Strategy, which led her to Sunflower. She is in charge of optimization, management, and making sure our clients content reach their goals.

  • Creative Mastermind

Lindsay was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. She studied Apparel Marketing, International Studies, and Nonprofit Leadership at Kansas State University. During her studies, she spent significant time in Guatemala working for various nonprofit organizations and ethical companies, as well as an impactful semester abroad in Spain.

After graduating in 2018, she moved to Austin, Texas where she worked in marketing & operations in the ethical fashion field. Her lifelong creative spirit and nonprofit experience led her to Sunflower Communications. She now resides in Antigua, Guatemala, and helps to create beautiful and effective content for our clients.

  • Founder & CEO

With experience across nonprofit communications and international development, Nina is a storyteller and strategist who helps impact organizations turn meaningful work into clear, compelling communications that build trust and support.

She is the founder and director of Sunflower Communications, a bilingual agency supporting nonprofits and social enterprises globally. Her work centers on helping teams clarify their strategy, strengthening their storytelling, and building sustainable communications systems that allow them to grow without losing the human depth at the heart of their mission.

Before founding Sunflower, Nina worked in communications, fundraising, and education in Canada, South Korea, and Guatemala. She holds a degree in Philosophy and Psychology from York University, a Digital Marketing Management certificate from the University of Toronto, and a Project Management and International Development post-graduate from Humber College. Four years ago, she moved to Guatemala to pursue a career in ethical fashion and social impact, aiming to make a meaningful difference. Her experience in working with social impact brands and nonprofits, as well as leading creative teams, led her to Sunflower, where she supports managing client accounts and plays a key role in expanding the organization’s goals through strategic partnerships.

Currently, Alia spends most of her time in Oaxaca, Mexico, though her love for travel and passion for exploring different cultures keeps her exploring new places.

We believe in amplifying the impact of purpose-led companies through aligned communications and providing equal opportunities for everyone.
