  • Founder & CEO

    Nina is from Toronto, but splits her time between there and Antigua, Guatemala. She holds a degree in Philosophy and Psychology from York University, as well as a certificate in Digital Marketing Management from the University of Toronto, and a Post-Graduate in Project Management & International Development from Humber College.

    She has experience working in marketing, communications, fundraising, and teaching in Canada, South Korea and Guatemala. After working in the social impact sector for a few years, she realized there was a need for nonprofits and social enterprises to fundraise and communicate in a modern and engaging way, so she started Sunflower with the hopes of helping clients tell their story, amplify their impact and reach their goals.

    Her mother tongue is English, and she has working proficiency skills in Spanish.

    She won the BMO x Humber College Women’s entrepreneurship pitch challenge in March 2023.

  • Optimizer Extraordinaire

    Juliana was born in Guatemala City but was raised in small town Chimaltenango, and now lives in Antigua. She worked as an early childhood educator at a bilingual school where, thanks to the interaction with native English speaking teachers, she was able to acquire a proficient level of English.

    After her move to Antigua, she began exploring new careers and learning new skills. While working at a Production House, she had the opportunity to learn Ethical Production Management. During this time she also started learning Social Media Management and Strategy, which led her to Sunflower. She is in charge of optimization, management, and making sure our clients content reach their goals.

  • Creative Mastermind

    Lindsay was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. She studied Apparel Marketing, International Studies, and Non-Profit Leadership at Kansas State University. During her studies, she spent a significant amount of time in Guatemala working for various non-profit organizations and ethical companies, as well as a impactful semester abroad in Spain.

    After graduating in 2018, she moved to Austin, Texas where she worked in marketing & operations in the ethical fashion field. Her life long creative spirit and non-profit experience led her to Sunflower Communications. She now resides in Antigua, Guatemala and helps to create beautiful and effective content for our clients.

  • Conscious Creator

    Elizabeth was born and raised in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. During university, she had numerous opportunities to study and travel abroad including at L’Institut de Touraine in France, the School of Foreign Service in Doha, Qatar, and with the Cambodian Living Arts Center in Phenom Penh. These experiences ignited her passion for global engagement and inspired her to collaborate with organizations worldwide, driving positive change in communities.

    Post-graduation, Elizabeth dove into the non-profit realm, kick-starting her career as a math teacher at the Abaarso School in Hargeisa, Somaliland. She later transitioned to a communications coordinator role for the Abaarso School Network. Her path eventually led her to Guatemala, where she honed her Spanish and refined her content creation and website development skills with a local agency before finding her place at Sunflower Communications.

  • Strategic & Creative Director

    Born and raised in beautiful, hilly Guatemala City, Natalia is a computer scientist turned designer and content creator. After returning from getting her university degree in Taiwan, she worked for various small creative agencies as a graphic, web designer and developer.

    She currently contributes to Sunflower by creating thoughtful, relatable, and impactful content. Natalia seeks to be a content creator & designer of the soulful and genuine to help amplify the impact of the human efforts that bring us together.

  • Project Manager & Strategic Partnerships Manager

    Alia was born in Malawi and raised in London, where she worked in marketing and sales within the fashion industry. Four years ago, she moved to Guatemala to pursue a career in ethical fashion and social impact, aiming to make a meaningful difference. Her experience in working with social impact brands and nonprofits, as well as leading creative teams, led her to Sunflower, where she supports managing client accounts and plays a key role in expanding the organization’s goals through strategic partnerships.

    Currently, Alia spends most of her time in Oaxaca, Mexico, though her love for travel and passion for exploring different cultures keeps her exploring new places.
